The Find Magazine:
“Redefinition Records is already bringing the heat for years with artists like Damu The Fudgemunk, Grap Luva, K-Def, and Raw Poetic (of Panacea). German producer Klaus Layer (p.k.a. Captain Crook) is the latest addition to their delicious hip hop roster.
It’s a fairly new name to us, but this track is a promising introduction. Also watch this video to get a bit more familiar with this producer from Oranienburg, Germany. Apparently there’s an instrumental LP coming up soon on Redefinition Records.
Klaus Layer was always interested in eastern German art and music, but after the fall of the Berlin Wall he truly got opened up to new opportunities and a wider range of artistic influences from foreign cultures. While his preference for classic golden era hip hop music can be heard in his work, he has his own distinct identity as a beatmaker.”
